Harpiste
Harpist
For many years, Myriam Reid has performed at corporate and private events throughout Quebec, particularly in the Greater Montreal area. Equally comfortable with the traditional harp and the modern electric harp, she offers a rich and distinctive musical world blending classical, popular, electro-lounge, and Celtic music. Her repertoire also includes several original compositions, whose quality earned her an international award at the New Century Harp Competition for writing and arrangement. A graduate of the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Music, Myriam Reid first studied piano, guitar, and voice before discovering the harp, an instrument that quickly became central to her artistic career. She has released five albums: Brumes (2007), Feux Follets (2010), Neige Folle (2011), La Nuit des Temps (2015), and L’Automne (2018). Her work has received numerous positive reviews, both for the quality of its melodies and the finesse of her performances. A versatile harpist, Myriam Reid has collaborated on a wide variety of projects, ranging from studio recordings with pop, rock, and classical artists to film scores, including Love and Savagery, which was nominated for Best Music at both the Jutra Awards and the Genie Awards in 2010. She has also shared the stage with many artists from the cultural scene and completed a residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity with the support of a Canada Council for the Arts grant. Alongside her solo career, Myriam Reid is also the harpist for the French-language folk-rock band Helium, whose songs are played on several radio stations in Quebec and France. With her modern approach, remarkable versatility, and the harp’s unique sound, Myriam Reid creates an elegant and memorable atmosphere perfectly suited to events of all kinds.
